Mike Siddell @ Kings Place
Since the folk revival of the 1960s, bands have employed lush string arrangements to lift their music beyond the conventional. Arctic Circle have commissioned The Miserable Rich's violinist Mike Siddell to work with guest singers on new arrangements of their songs to be performed in the wonderful concert hall at Kings Place as part of their Folk Union series.
Mike started out with post-rock icons Hope Of The States; since their split four years ago, Mike has influenced much of the output of Brighton's Wilkommen Collective, including The Leisure Society, Sons Of Noel and Adrian, and of course The Miserable Rich, whose baroque indie sound is driven by the strings.
